My husband and I recently spent 5 wonderful nights camping here with out two grandchildren aged 6 and 9. We spent most of our days touring the area but our mornings and evenings were spent enjoying the perfect campground. The kids enjoyed the swimming pool, beamed with pride and excitement at catching rainbow trout, made friends with the awesome staff and thought the ducks and ducklings were great fun. Their favorite activity by far was playing in the creek and making new friends (there were always many children there). They have a little store,, clean bathhouses, and beautiful Black Hills scenery.
I stayed here for a 2nd time this summer just the other day. I hate to give a great review here because I dont want you all to go there and it be too busy for me!, but these guys deserve a great rating and they will get it from me! Ill be trying to work this stop in every time I go west. My wife and I stayed in a tiny cabin, next to the road and loved it! the workers were all super nice and we just didnt have a bad thing to say at all here. I thought the road noise would be distracting, but never really noticed it. It is close to Deadwood so you can lose your money and eat there if you want and close to dirt trails, which is where we had the most fun. We are looking forward to doing it all again!

We just returned from the Fish ‘n Fry campground after spending five nights there.
Gary & Michele and the rest of the people were very nice! They helped all of us get into our campsites and made sure we had everything we needed. We have camped together for years, and we actually did some things we have never done- one was karaoke, the other was we had a movie night in our campers because of the fire ban
We had a great time and the campground was wonderful along with getting to meet new people! We would recommend this place!!
Beautiful setting in the Black Hills with the best manager/owners and staff! Great fun and access to all that the Black Hills has to offer. Access to trails right from the campground. Don’t stay anywhere else!
We love this unique, charming little campground with its natural beauty, fun amenities, and friendly owners! This review is for our third stay at Fish ‘n Fry, and I’m sure we will go back again this summer! As always, we enjoyed the old timey dining area and well-stocked general store, the gorgeous trout pond, the retro arcade, and the beauty of the Black Hills.
We had an interesting phenomena this time around -a massive rain / hail storm out of the blue in August! There was so much moisture, so fast, that it flooded out the poor tent campers located just downhill from our camper. I noted that the owners were very helpful in getting the flooded campers all sorted out.
This time around we were camped right at the edge of the little stream that winds through the campground and we had sweet visits from the local ducks in our campsite every morning!
Yes, there are some quirks as others have noted -the bathroom lights are motion activated and occasionally go out if you are the only one in the shower. Also, I’ve noticed that the newer shower facility has water that heats up faster in the shower than the older shower rooms. This is such a unique, beautiful, great little campground that I just think it adds to the quirky charm.
Misty Bee and family,
My daughter, granddaughter and myself went tent camping just after the 4th of July weekend. We were greeted by friendly and helpful staff and put up our tent right next to the stream. It was beautiful and very close to Deadwood and Lead. We had a great time there, but something unexpected happened. We were in Deadwood one night when we received a phone message saying our tent area had been flooded out by a sudden downpour. They said they would be available to us when we returned and gave us a cabin to stay in that night. We were so surprised by that generosity and concern, and so greatful!! The weather was terrible but we survived, thanks to the wonderful owners of this campground, as well as the great staff. The pool was heated enough to swim, the restaurant was great, and they surprised us again by bringing out the pancakes my granddaughter ordered for breakfast with a smiley face and a 13 out of chocolate chips! They had heard it was my granddaughter’s birthday! It was so special!!! I highly recommend this campground!!!

Thanks again to you & Gary for all your wonderful hospitality, you guys made it an awesome week for the Hooooubs even with the rain and storms. I can’t wait to get back out there!
We had an easy trip home with great traveling weather.
Take care and thanks again,
Fish n Fry is a quaint, comfortable and friendly campground. We were totally amazed by the actual Fish n Fry concept. Catch your trout , have it cleaned and fried, and eat right there. The gang running the place are as good as you’ll ever get. The location to Deadwood/Lead is a stone’s throw. (Very convenient!!!) Treat yourself to this place. Thanx to everyone there a good time.

I just wanted to say thanks and how much we enjoyed our visit with your guys last week!! You and Gary and the rest and of the hosts/caretakers, and cooks do a spectacular job of making folks feel welcome and at home! We would love to come back and bring our ATV’s and/or RV at some point and do some off-roading and more sight-seeing and just sitting and relaxing! If we can ever get backup that way, we will definitely look to stay at the fish and fry again!!!
